Winstead & Co. across the street from the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville on Cherry Street [now called 4th Avenue] in 1869.  It appears this partnership lasted until around 1888 when Robert no longer appears in the Nashville City Directory as working with his brother.  Robert switched careers and decided to become a real estate agent.  Thomas continued running his shoe store until his death.  In 1905, Thomas died from Cirrhosis of the Liver and Interstitial Nephritis due to his drinking alcohol and morphine habit, according to his death certificate.
