Date of Enlistment:  July 18,1861 Place of Enlistment:  Haynesville, TN Rank at Enlistment:  Private Rank at Discharge:  Private Casualty:  None with 1st TN, captured near Jackson, MS on July 17, 1863 Comments:  James joined the company while they were at Camp Gant on their way to Virginia.  On April 30, 1862, he was exchanged for Alexander Beard in the 2nd Kentucky Mounted Infantry Company D.  He is listed as deserting on a roster dated June of 1863 but he was captured on July 17, 1863 near Jackson, MS.  He was released upon taking the oath on April 8, 1865 at the Camp Morton Prison Camp.  His prison papers list his residence as Nelson County, KY and describes him as Complexion: Light, Hair: Dark, Eyes: Gray, Height: 5'8".  No record of a James Henderson in Nelson County, KY has been found, so the personal details of his life are unknown.
